Patrick McMillin

The Awesome Group founder and CEO, Patrick McMillin, PE (AK), is a retired U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Captain, and an industry leader in facility asset management project delivery and practices. He has a 30+ year proven track record managing engineers, technicians, and multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations, and directing agency-wide initiatives and high-value project to successful completion.

A career civil engineering officer with decades of direct experience and understanding of USCG programs, facilities and regional needs across the nation, Pat commanded two Civil Engineering Units (Oakland & Honolulu).  He also had tours as Deputy Commander of the CG’s Shore Maintenance Command, Chief of Resources and Performance Management for District 14, and Chief of Planning and Management at FD&CC Pacific.  Pat also taught at the US Coast Guard Academy as an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering.  He led engineering, environmental, planning and contracting professionals to implement annual programs in excess of $30M, guided dozens of capital planning efforts, administered a $4.3B real property portfolio and supervised a comprehensive CFO audit inventory of west-coast real property. 

Pat has subsequently provided high level support for major programmatic initiatives for USCG and NOAA, including: capital planning projects (a dozen initiatives, with outcomes supporting more than 1 million square feet of mission-essential facilities associated with aviation and vessel homeporting, weather equipment repair & warehousing, and science labs on each coast); business process improvements for planning, environmental, and asset management programs, and; technical oversight and guidance for boots-on-ground facility assessment at 95% of all USCG units, and real property inventory at 50% of NOAA facilities.

Richard Tremaglio

Richard Tremaglio is an Executive Manager with more than 30 years of professional consulting experience providing capital planning, asset management, business case analysis, risk analysis and evaluation and information management services to federal and other public agencies.

Rich has expertise with the distillation of key business processes to core information requirements, development of cost-effective means to harvest or generate required data, and the alignment of decision support systems to support required business processes.  He has a comprehensive understanding of NOAA’s facility asset management program and organization, and deep insight of the USCG civil engineering and shore programs and requirements, based on years of continuous experience working hand in hand with senior leadership to develop these agency’s programs. 

He’s been a Principal in Charge and Project Manager for numerous high-profile efforts such as: the development of NOAA’s facility capital planning methodology based on DOC Scalable Acquisition Framework as applied to facilities, and execution of 9 capital planning projects for facilities valued at ~$500M; oversight for the development and implementation of enterprise-wide NOAA and USCG facility inventory assessments; and the development of USCG National Housing Portfolio Study, Information Management Strategy, Shore Facilities Prioritization Process, High Performing Organization Review, and Asset Management Metrics initiatives. Rich has also supported programmatic efforts for NASA (strategic asset planning and risk management), the Navy (resource, risk and asset management), Ports (asset and risk management) and the Army (strategic asset planning).

Jason Beatty

Jason Beatty, a retired USCG Commander, has 25 years of public service experience, including 14 years managing facilities, real property assets, federal and local public works projects and programs. He is an expert in budget management, developing strategic investment plans, overseeing capital project improvements, operations and maintenance of public facilities and infrastructure.

Jason has extensive knowledge of Coast Guard processes and facilities as a career civil engineering officer, including assignments as Facilities Engineer at USCG Base Alameda, Executive Officer at USCG Civil Engineering Unit Oakland, National Engineering Director for Housing and Training Facilities, and Assistant Facilities Engineer for USCG Training Center Petaluma. He was awarded the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Oren Medal for Coast Guard’s Engineer of the Year in 2011.

Subsequently, as Director of the Public Works & Utilities Department in Petaluma, CA, Jason was responsible for the city’s public improvement requirements and operations of water, storm water, and wastewater utilities, streets, public transit, flood management, airport, marina, and park maintenance. He directed a team of 111 personnel and developed and managed an annual budget of $86M for a full-service public works and utilities department.

Scott Peterein

Scott Peterein, a retired US Coast Guard Captain, brings extensive acquisition program management, facility management, and federal budgeting expertise to the T-A-G team. Prior to joining The Awesome Group, Scott served as the USCG Acquisitions Directorate Assistant Program Executive Officer where he was responsible for management oversight of the USCG’s $30 billion surface fleet recapitalization and homeport build-out programs. In a prior command role, Scott directed the USCG’s transition-to-sustainment processes for the USCG’s new fleets of cutters and boats, making them mission ready with integrated logistics systems (maintenance, supply, facilities) for operational commanders and mission support personnel. Scott also has a decade of experience managing federal facilities and real property assets. In prior tours he served as the Public Works Officer at USCG Air Station Borinquen, PR; Facilities Engineer at USCG Sector San Francisco, CA; and as a Project Manager at USCG Civil Engineering Unit Oakland, CA.

Beyond his engineering technical experience, Scott completed a special assignment where he led efforts to formulate the Coast Guard’s annual operating budget at the direction of the USCG Chief Financial Officer and Budget Officer. Throughout the three-year process, he managed the USCG’s budget planning, resource programming, and development of Congressional Justifications for appropriation to sustain the USCG’s 50,000-member workforce and capital investment portfolio.

Scott is a Professional Engineer (civil) and a certified Federal Acquisition Institute Senior Program/Project Manager, Contracting Officer Representative (COR), and Lifecycle Logistics Manager. He is also a certified Project Management Professional.

Mike Hudson

Mike Hudson retired from the USCG as an O-6 in 2020 and since then has worked in Operations Management as a consultant and with the University of Southern Maine. Key leadership roles in the U.S. Coast Guard include Commanding Officer of USCG Base Cape Cod, Chief of the Business Operations Division at the Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center, Chief of Operational Planning and Readiness for Coast Guard operational resources assigned to the northeastern U.S., and Commanding Officer of the USCGC TAHOMA in Kittery, Maine.

Mike is also a Professional Civil Engineer with direct experience as the Executive Officer of Civil Engineering Unit Miami overseeing geographically diverse facility asset management programs and $30M portfolio of projects supporting $2.6B in real property across a 26-state area.

Andy Brown

Andy Brown recently retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as an O-6 with over 25 years of experience as a civil engineering and mission support professional successfully leading Coast Guard organizations, programs, and projects.  He brings a wealth of civil engineering/facilities management and operations knowledge to the team, including policy development, program management, capital and maintenance project planning/development, and field execution.

Andy’s Coast Guard civil engineering resume includes Executive Officer at USCG Civil Engineering Unit Juneau, Facilities Engineer at USCG Base Kodiak, and Commanding Officer at USCG Civil Engineering Unit Providence.  He also served as both Commanding Officer and Executive Officer at USCG Base Boston.  Andy was awarded the Admiral John B. Oren Medal as the Coast Guard’s Civil Engineer of the year in 2008 (sponsored by the Society of American Military Engineers) and the Captain David H. Jarvis Inspirational Leadership Award in 2017 (sponsored by the Navy League of the United States).

 

 

Keemiya Pourmonir

Keemiya Pourmonir

Keemiya Pourmonir is a USCG veteran with extensive knowledge and experience supporting Department of Homeland Security and Department of Commerce programmatic and acquisition management onboard numerous platforms. She has expertise in all facets of shipboard maintenance, engineering, communications, and vessel operations. Prior to joining The Awesome Group, Keemiya served as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Program Analyst in support of the Class C vessel acquisition providing support for current and future NOAA new ship construction programs. She oversaw various technical, acquisition, programmatic, risk, configuration, estimating, and administrative functions while working with stakeholders to identify emerging program requirements and coordinate across multi-disciplined project teams. 

She served on active duty as the Commanding Officer of USCGC Haddock in San Diego, CA, where she demonstrated sustained excellence while coordinating with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. She also supported the regional Maritime Domain Awareness Innovation Cell evaluation of uncrewed aerial systems. Outside her duties as Commanding Officer, she prioritized and executed service-wide policy changes that impacted engineering; law enforcement; health care; and diversity, inclusion, and equity policies. Before reporting as the Commanding Officer of Haddock, Keemiya served as the executive officer of USCGC Monomoy in Manama, Bahrain, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. She also served as the Weapons and Operations Officer onboard the USCGC Isaac Mayo in Key West, FL. 

She was elected to and serves as a National Board member for the Surface Navy Association providing service members with support, programs, & various activities to enable professional growth, personal satisfaction, and camaraderie.
